"Let the music play"

Whereabouts Underground is an independent recording project started in 1998 by me (Mark Lord) and maintained by the vocalists who participate. As a general rule, I write the songs, play the instruments, and recruit singers to record the vocals. Over the years, I've had the good fortune to work with and, in some cases,  become friends with some of the most talented vocalists. We hope you enjoy the music. Here is a partial list of Whereabouts Underground vocalists: Raymond Lord, Fiona Sheehan, Taylor Beeland, Jo Studdard, Star Scott (also of Sursievision) Tom Schimmel, Stacy Mathis, Meredith Clendenon, Bonni Farmer, Phil Williams. A complete list will be published later in a blog.

In other news: In 2007, I learned about The Maue Kay Foundation, a charity founded in 2004 by John Kay (of Steppenwolf) and his wife Maue Kay. They work independently and with other charities to support human rights, wildlife and the natural environment. In an effort to help support The Maue Kay Foundation, the singers and I try to release at least one benefit CD per year, sell copies, and donate all profits to the charity. For more info about available CDs, e-mail mark12178@hotmail.com. Anyone interested in learning more about The Maue Kay Foundation, please visit mauekay.org.
